Srinagar, December 13:An Improvised Explosive Device has been recovered on tuesday morning in Tulibal area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A senior police officer told GNS that an IED has been found at Sopore bypass near Amargrah crossing in Tulibal.

Soon a team of police, 52RR of army and CRPF rushed to the spot. Meanwhile Bomb Disposal Squad has been summoned to defuse the IED, he said.

Checks duty roaster, heating arrangements, availability of medicines at pharmacies; interacts with patients/ attendants and doctors on duty

The Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad conducted late night inspection of various City hospitals during the intervening night of 12th and 13th December in order to oversee the healthcare facilities being extended to the patients.

The DC paid surprise visits to SMHS, JLNM, CHC Gousia Khanyar and other Hospitals and checked night duty roaster of Medical & Paramedical staff, heating arrangements, availability of drugs/medicines at pharmacies and functioning of laboratories/diagnostic units.
Meanwhile simultaneous inspection of SDH Hazratbal and PHC Zadibal was also done on directions of Deputy commissioner by SDM East and SDM West respectively.
During the night inspection the Deputy Commissioner made a thorough round of various Units of the Hospitals including Emergency Block, Surgical Wards, Cardiology Wards, Operation Theatre, Dialysis Unit, Orthopaedic Unit, Ayushman Bharat Help Desk etc. He also oversaw the operationalisation of Jan Ashudi stores aimed at providing generic drugs to the patients.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the Patients, attendents, Doctors and the Para Medical staff on duty.

He also took direct feedback from the patients regarding the available patient care facilities, besides provision of medicines, meals and other medical facilities to the patients and their attendants.

While interacting with the Doctors and Para-Medical staff on duty, the Deputy Commissioner advised them to perform their duties with added zeal and passion to serve the public. He asked them to ensure availability of Medical and Para-Medical staff strictly as per the devised roster so that patients do not face any difficulty.

The DC advised the Medical Superintendents and concerned CMOs to display duty roaster conspicuously on the Hospital Information Board. He stressed on adopting a caring and compassionate attitude towards the patients.
He also appreciated the Medical staff at various hospitals for working with dedication especially during night hours of the winter. He also told few 24*7 Hospitals to utilise their full capacity and avoid unnecessary referrals which puts burden on the Tertiary care Health System.

The DC also passed instructions to the Hospital Administrations to maintain complete cleanliness and hygiene in and around the Hospital, besides proper heating and lighting facilities in the hospital.

During the inspection, the DC stressed on ensuring round the clock presence of doctors to ensure seamless medical care is provided to the patients.

Ganderbal, Dec 12: Authorities on Monday decided to allow one-way traffic towards Srinagar from Kargil along Srinagar-Leh highway on Tuesday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that in view of frost and slippery conditions of the road, tomorrow subject to fair weather and road clearance, only one way traffic from Kargil towards Srinagar shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road.

“All these vehicles shall be allowed from Minamarg at 1000 hrs, LMVs followed by HMVs up to 1300 hrs, and Motorists are advised to carry an anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road.”

Furthermore, the official said that “no vehicles shall be allowed without anti-skid chains. Security forces shall follow the same schedule. No vehicle shall be allowed before and after cutting off timings.”—(KNO)

Srinagar, Dec 12: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla claimed to have arrested four gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.

A police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that acting on specific information about gambling activities at Shalboni Hanjiwera Pattan, a police party led by SI Athar Parvaiz I/C PP Mirgund raided the specific site and arrested four gamblers on the spot.

They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat and Hilal Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani all residents of Hanjiwera Pattan.

“Officers have seized stake money of Rs 1,500 and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been taken up,” police said.

Meanwhile, police said that persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt with as per law. “Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said—(KNO)

Srinagar, Dec 12: In order to review the progress of Migrant Transit Accommodations, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex here on Monday.

Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Syed Shabir, the meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Secretary SMC, Deputy Director SDA, all concerned Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Tehsildar Relief and other concerned.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the process regarding construction of Migrant Transit Accommodations of 936 flats comprising 39 blocks being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 124 crore in the District.

On the occasion, the DC asked the concerned Revenue authorities to allot additional 20 kanals of land adjacent to 93 kanals of land already allotted for the Migrant transit accommodation at Zewan.

The DC also asked the concerned for exploring feasibility of another patch of land at Gasoo in Tehsil North of the City.

The DC also directed the concerned executing agency to start physical work on the project by or before December 20, 2022.

Later, in the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the disposal status of migrant grievances and instructed all the Tehsildars to pay special thrust on the complaints registered on the portal/offline to ensure quality redressal to the best satisfaction of the complainants.

The DC further asked the officers to work with added zeal and dedication while redressing the grievances to ensure their time bound, prompt and quality disposal.

While reviewing Tehsil wise status of grievances, the DC sets Tehsil wise deadline to clear pendency regarding disposal of migrant grievances related to correction of records/ demarcation and removal of encroachments/trespassing/alienation by way of fraud or distress sale, etc. He said that no laxity will be tolerated with regard to lenient way or slow pace of grievance settlement.

On the occasion, the DC was informed that out of total 1864 complaints received only 271 are pending which are being addressed on fast track basis.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the Assistant Commissioner Revenue to further activate the dedicated helpline so that applicants are provided first-hand information about their registered complaints. He also asked him to monitor the functioning of the Migrant Grievance Redressal Cell to keep proper track of the registered grievances for their timely disposal.

On the occasion, the DC was informed that first hand assistance is being provided to the complainants on dedicated helpline number by the concerned Revenue staff for providing guidance to the complainants and to respond to their queries—(KNO)

Jammu, Dec 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday paid tributes to General Zorawar Singh on his Martyrdom Day.

“One of the greatest military commanders of the world, General Zorawar Singh made the country proud by his unparalleled bravery & military tactics. He will continue to inspire generations to come”, said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor was attending the event organized by General Zorawar Singh Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust, to commemorate the martyrdom day of General Zorawar Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor threw light on the life and military campaigns of General Zorawar Singh.

He is the embodiment of India’s strength and self-confidence. His valour, discipline, and devotion towards duty is a testimony that for the brave, nothing is impossible and infinite possibilities open up for the warrior, said the Lt Governor.

General Zorawar Singh is an icon for generations because his name evokes a strong feeling of love, reverence and sacrifice for the motherland, the Lt Governor added.

The Lt Governor said, it should be our collective endeavour to fully recognise his contribution and significance in India’s history.

The historians, writers should pay attention to the historic accomplishment of true national hero, General Zorawar Singh and new generation must be reminded of his military campaigns in Ladakh, Baltistan, Tibet and immense contribution to the expansion of the Dogra Empire under Maharaja Gulab Singh ji, he added.

The Lt Governor also spoke on the transformational journey of Jammu Kashmir.

Jammu Kashmir is marching into its golden age with core values of people-first and ideas and ideals of forefathers. General Zorawar Singh had envisioned a strong and prosperous J&K, in which every citizen can live a life of dignity and self- respect. We are committed to creating a prosperous and inclusive society, said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor urged the people to discharge their responsibilities to accelerate the process of development.

On the occasion, Ravinder Singh Jamwal, famous Sculptor and Anmol Bhardwaj specially-abled Power-lifter were also felicitated by the Lt Governor.

Anantnag, Dec 12: Residents of Turk Tachloo village in Anantnag district are much worried due to the outbreak of Hepatitis A disease in their village and are demanding proper investigation to find out the root cause of the disease outbreak.

Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that three villages including Turk Tachloo are getting water supply from the same water supply scheme and if water would have been contaminated, then the disease would have spread to two other villages as well.

Ghulam Hassan, a local numberdar, told KNO that that the government must look into all angles and find out the root cause of the disease outbreak in the village.

Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Kashmir Basharat Ahmad Kawoosa who visited Turk Tachloo on Monday told reporters that four samples which were taken before locals on the day when first death was reported in the area have been found okay for use with no bacterial contamination.

He said that samples were taken wherever locals asked and today, “we got its reports and no bacterial contamination was found in it”.

He said that there is need of contact tracing to find out the person who got infected first and how it spread and reasons behind its outbreak.

He said that he has taken up the issue with the health department.

Meanwhile health officials said that teams of the department are on the job to keep vigil on the situation besides that all angles to find the root cause of the outbreak are being checked.

They requested locals to use boiled water and there is no need to panic and if anyone will have symptoms just report to the doctor—(KNO)

Srinagar, Dec 12: Doctors at Chest Disease Hospital here on Monday achieved a rare feat by operating and successfully placing a special kind of metallic stent in a 52-year-old patient through Rigid Bronchoscopy.

The procedure was performed by combined efforts from department of Pulmonary Medicine and Department of Anaesthesia GMC Srinagar on the male patient from Srinagar who exhibited an increasing shortness of breath and stridor (an abnormal, high-pitched, musical breathing sound).

The patient upon Bronchoscopy revealed cancerous growth of trachea and Biopsy was later diagnostic of squamous cell carcinoma, according to a statement.

The procedure was performed by a team of interventional pulmonologists led by HOD Pulmonary Medicine Prof (Dr). Naveed Nazir Shah, Prof (Dr) Khurshid Ahmad Dar, Associate Prof (Dr.) Syed Suraiya, Dr. Mohd Yousf Dar, Dr. Naeem Firdous, Dr. Aaliya Mohi ud Din, Dr. Hena Mustafa, Dr. Shahid Majid, Dr. Aasir Hussain, Anaesthesia team consisted of Dr. Israr ul haq Dr. Rameez Raja, Dr. Mir Faisal who under guidance of HOD Anesthesiology Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb along with Allied OT staff Hilal Ahmad (I/C), Gulzar Ahmad, Mohammad Younis and Mohd Hafeez.

“Procedure was performed under general anesthesia and airway was secured by rigid bronchoscope and a ‘Self-expanding Tracheobronchial Y-shaped Metallic Stent (SEMS)’ was placed in position under direct vision via bronchoscope.”

By performing this procedure Chest Diseases Hospital is making its mark in the field of international Pulmonology and this successful procedure is a great achievement in the history of Chest Medicine Srinagar Kashmir, it said. .
The relatives of the patient, in the meantime, expressed happiness and extended gratitude to the whole team of doctors and other allied staff for conducting such a procedure successfully.

When contacted, Head of Department Dr. Naveed Nazir Shah told GNS that it is a newly-introduced technology at the hospital – dedicated for chest disease patients. “Earlier the patients would have to go outside for such operations and procedures and now with the introduction of the technology, such patients’ would no longer have to do so, as it has been formally introduced and available here”, the top pulmonologist said. Srinagar Police in a tweet Said that an accused namely Arif Abdullah Rather S/o Mohd Abdullah R/o zaloora Sopore has been arrested for hitting with his scorpio car a SMC employee,who later succumbed to injuries.

In this regards FIR no 109/279 u/s 279, 337, 304-A IPC was registered in Soura PS and vehicle also seized in case, police said.

JAMMU, Dec 12: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan offered prayers at the revered shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi atop Trikuta hills in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said on Monday.

Khan, dressed in complete black with hooded jacket, reached the shrine late Sunday night to pay his obeisance, the official said.

“The superstar was at the shrine around 11.30 pm and offered his prayers before returning back,” the official said.
A brief video, purportedly showing the 57-year-old actor moving towards the Bhawan along with his personal staff and some policemen, is making rounds on the social media.

Earlier this month, Khan was photographed performing Umrah in Mecca after the schedule wrap of his film ‘Dunki’ in Saudi Arabia.

The actor will next be seen in Yash Raj Films’ actioner ‘Pathaan’ alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The Siddharth Anand-directed movie is scheduled to be released on January 25. (Agencies)
