Apni Party leader addresses public rally in Bijhama area of north Kashmir’s Uri; greets new entrants into the party fold.

Calling for unity and harmony among the masses, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, who was on a day-long tour to north Kashmir’s Uri, on Tuesday urged people not to fall prey to the divisive politics by the conventional political parties.

He was addressing a public rally at Bijhama Uri, where people and his party workers gave him a warm welcome on his arrival.

According to a press release issued here, while addressing the gathering Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari cautioned people that traditional political parties and their leaders are out there to polarize communities and populations for their own political interests.

He said, “The traditional political parties and their leaders come to allure you with fake promises and emotional slogans. For their own political interests, they even try to divide you on the basis of variant political ideologies. But you must understand the fact that J&K people irrespective of their religion or regional identities or political affiliations are actually sailing in the same boat in terms of their vulnerabilities, issues, grievances, and challenges, thus you must stand united, maintain harmony, and not fall prey to the divisive politics of these self-centered and power-hungry politicians.”

He further said, “Apni Party does not believe in divisive politics. We never try to allure people with fake promises and emotional slogans. Our agenda is very simple, yet very significant: We are working for the peace, prosperity, and development of Jammu and Kashmir. We want to see J&K people prosperous irrespective of their caste, creed, or their geographical location, and political ideologies. And, we will keep striving for these achievable goals.”

Talking about J&K’s protracted turmoil, which has caused deaths and destruction over the years, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “J&K people have been grappling with instability and conflict for more than three decades, and they have seen bloodsheds and destructions occurring here in all these years. We are in dire need of a peaceful environment which would pave the way for prosperity and development. We cannot afford unending turmoil and continuous deaths here. We have to take care of the future of our young generation and the generations to come. Therefore, we need politics of peace here rather than the politics of conflicts.”

He promised that Apni Party would continue its work for sustainable peace in J&K. “I assure you that Apni Party will never indulge in the politics of hate and divisions. Unlike the traditional political parties, you will always see us abstaining from the emotional slogans that have been landing our youth either in jails or graveyards.”

Dooru, Dec 13: National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the up coming elections in Jammu and Kashmir will not be fought for roads, electricity and water, but for the identity of the people.

Addressing party workers at Dooru Anantnag, Omar Abdullah, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the upcoming elections, whenever it will be held, will be fought for “our own identity and people in large number must participate in it.”

“Elections are generally contested for the development but this time elections will be fought for identity so that land, jobs and other rights will be there for locals,” he said.

He said that promises made by the BJP when special status of J&K was abrogated have proven hoax on ground as almost every recruitment process is being scrapped.

“On 05 August, 2019 we were kept in jails and it was being said these people are responsible for mess in J&K but since then three years have passed but forget new projects, they failed to complete even our projects,” Omar Abdullah said.

He also said now government is to give unique ID to every household but for what when they already have Aadhaar, Pan and other numbers.

“This family ID is nowhere in India which is another attack on our identity and by creating these numbers government is trying that J&K residents are known by numbers not by names,” he said.

“If we will have to save our identity and get rid of these numbers, people must participate in assembly elections and answer them with their votes,” he said.

He also said party president Dr Farooq Abdullah will join Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yatra at Lakhanpur, as he has himself said this—(KNO)

Srinagar, Dec 13: People’s Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter Iltija Mufti has written to Lieutenant Governor Monaj Sinha, seeking adequate arrangements for security personnel deployed at the private. residence of Mehbooba Mufti in Khimber.

Mehbooba Mufti recently shifted to private residence at Khimber after vacating the government residence at posh Gupkar road.

In a letter to LG Sinha, a copy of which lies Kashmir News Service (KNS), Iltija said even before shifting, countless trips were made by various security agencies to establish an appropriate living facility for the security personnel to be stationed here.

The letter reads it has been over two weeks since they have shifted, yet not a single measure has been taken to ensure that the security men here be it CRPF or local police personnel have a safe, suitable and liveable environment to discharge their duties in.

“Around 20-25 of these security guards have been camping out in sub-zero temperatures in a make shift garage & a tent with no facilities for electricity or basic sanitation such as a toilet. These security men along with women guards have to use the same bathroom which we provided for since your administration has been shockingly complacent & quite insensitive about their wellbeing and essential basic needs,” it reads.

It further reads: “I had the chance to speak to the security personnel posted here. It’s terribly worrying and sad to see them in an acute state of distress. Matters are compounded by the fact that due to lack of electricity & frequent power cuts, they are vulnerable and at risk themselves. Especially if one were to factor in media reports that security agencies had not given clearance for Khimber”

“My family including Ms Mufti are deeply concerned about their wellbeing especially since Chilla-i-Kalan, the harshest winter period in Kashmir is about to set in along with predictions of snow for this week itself. I have previously communicated the same concerns to the security department. Sadly my plea to ensure their safety fell on deaf ears,” it added

It reads they are extremely appreciative of the manner in which they are discharging their duties in such a difficult distressing environment.

“The sad part is that the undignified living conditions that they are being subjected to can be easily taken care of yet absolutely nothing is being done about it.”

The letter reads: “Despite our political differences, I am sure we can agree that whether it is a CRPF jawan or local police personnel, they deserve to live with dignity to fulfil their responsibilities.”

“I hope you will take this matter into your hands with a sense of urgency. I have also attached a few pictures that speak volumes about their squalid living conditions along with a letter I wrote last week to the security department,” it added. (KNS)

Jammu, Dec 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Monday said that talks and “terror” can’t go together and government of India is very clear on its policy against militancy.
Addressing a function at Convention Centre Jammu, Sinha, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the development and peace here is indigestible for the people who made fortunes out of the tense situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said Article 370 gave secessionism, militancy, nepotism and large scale corruption to Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan used to create eco-system for militancy but Prime Minister Narendra Modi abrogated the Article 370 in 2019 and ushered a new era of peace, progress and prosperity in J&K.

“Furthermore, I like to say it loudly from here that terror and talks cannot go together. The GoI is very clear on it and I reaffirm the resolve of the government that no dialogue is possible with Pakistan unless and until it stops supporting militancy,” he said.

He added the fight against terror is in a very crucial stage and it will continue until the last mark of militancy is wiped-out from the pious land of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Situation is Jammu and Kashmir has improved very much after the abrogation of Article 370. Record number of tourist footfall has been witnessed and even today hotels of Kashmir are jam packed,” he said.

LG Sinha was addressing a gathering after launching a documentary “Ehad-E-Kashmir” here today.

He said days are gone when peace was negotiated over deals. “We are working on establishing the peace and destroying the left-over signs of militancy and separatists.”

He also said a handful of people are trying to spread false narrative and misguide the youth.

“These people must remember that Governance should be for the common man and not for the select few elites. We need to ask questions how families of militants were recruited in the government services earlier? How secessionists were given jobs earlier? Those responsible for such heinous acts must introspect before raising questions on transparent and merit based recruitments happening now,” he added.

Meanwhile, talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function, he said government will provide 5 percent more power to Kashmir this winter.

“There will be 5 percent increase in power supply in the Valley than previous year. I am taking a day-to-day report on the power supply,“ he said—(KNO)
