Domestic violence laws are frequently used to harass the spouse or any other family member claiming under him, ensuring that he caves to the unlawful demands of the so-called victim rather than vice versa. Unfortunately, there have been a number of examples where Section 498A has been utilised primarily as a tool for blackmailing. It is often abused as a weapon for exacting retribution on whole families because under this clause, police can arrest anybody named as a tormentor in a married woman’s complaint, as ‘cruelty’ in marriages has been declared a non-bailable offence. Following that, bail under such circumstances is refused as a basic right.

As a result, many times, elderly parents and other relatives are wrongly accused of physically and emotionally tormenting the so-called victim, producing unnecessary tension that may result in bad health for the elderly parents and physical and mental pain for the accused’s family members. The protection of women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 (DV Act) was enacted to protect women from violence and not to harass the spouse or aggravate marital dischord.

The Nanga Panchayat is facing worst ever power crisis for the past few years while the people from the Nanga panchayat Ramgarh have been forced to face the brunt of about unscheduled power cuts during these scorching hot summer days.

One of the members from the panchayat told to Vivek Bali that “I can’t recall the last time when we had to do without electricity for seven days in a row. Power intervals are so brief that washing machines can’t complete their runs. Even the battery of a mobile phone doesn’t get fully charged when it is plugged in for the whole night. It is a pathetic situation,”
The promise of 24×7 electricity supply with the Smart Metering has been dashed to the ground as the areas where these meters have been stalled, are also facing the same crisis in panchayat. The situation has gone from bad to worse with in just few years as the UT Administration has failed to manage the crisis and provide some relief to the consumers. Bali appealed to LG to solve this problems on priority.

Many people expressed their will to join the party and some of the prominent leaders who have joined are Jarnail Singh, Baljeet Singh, Jatinder Singh, Sukhdeev singh, Jagdeep Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Kallu, Punit Singh, Sahil Kumar, Lucky kumar, Anku Sharma, punkit

Srinagar, May 11:- The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir CCIK has expressed serious concern over Government’s proposed plan of power tariff hike in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement, President CCIK Tariq Rashid Ghani said Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited’s (KPDCL) proposal of tariff hike of over 12 percent is uncalled for and unjust.
Ghani said the government is ready to hike the tariff during good times however it has nevered heeded our request of amnesty in power tariff and other user charges during adverse times.

The CCIK President said government should first compensate for the losses the people suffered for many years especially since the year 2019.

“Both locals and business men suffered unimaginable losses since 2019 due to repeated and long drawn lockdowns. No compensation was made or no power tariff amnesty was announced for these distressing years,” said Ghani.

Ghani urgent the LG Administration to intervene in the matter and work on providing relief, financial assistance, capital infusion into the economic sectors rather than burdening then with power tariff hike.

The CCIK said both domestic and commercial users should be supplied power and other facilities on reduced charges owing to JK’s geographical disadvantage compared to other states.
