The daily tally of Covid-19 cases in Delhi crossed the 20,000-mark on Saturday, with the capital reporting 20,181 new cases of the infection. There were also 11,869 recoveries and seven more deaths. The positivity rate has gone up to 19.6% and there are 48,178 active cases.

At least 750 doctors and hundreds more nurses and paramedics from the six major hospitals in Delhi are currently down with Covid-19. Although most of them have mild symptoms and are in home isolation, it has taken away a huge chunk of the workforce, resulting in hospitals having to curtail routine clinics and surgeries. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is worst hit, with nearly 350 resident doctors currently in isolation.

Meanwhile, police and administrative officials in Delhi have kept vigil to check violations of Covid-related guidelines as weekend curfew kicked in Friday night, and stays till 5 am on Monday. The curfew has been relaxed for devotees in view of Guru Gobind Singh birth anniversary on Sunday.
