Waris Fayaz, Sopore, Feb 20 (JK Revolution): Three more drug peddlers have been arrested in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday, officials said here.

A official told JK Revolution that three drug peddlers were arrested along with 672 tablets of Spasmoproxvvoan plus in Duroo village of Sopore.

He said the arrested peddlers tried to run away from the spot but the police party of Warpora Police Post caught them tactfully.

The official identified them as Shahbaz Ahmed Dangroo, Ishfaq Ahmed Chopan and Waseem Ahmed Hajam—all residents of Sopore.

He said a case FIR number 26/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been started.

Srinagar, Feb 20 : Authorities on Monday cancelled the results of 2 Border Battalions of Jammu and Kashmir Police Border Battalion after observing some discrepancies. However, the officials said that revised results will be issued within half an hour.

The examination for 1300 Constable posts in JK Police Border Battalion was conducted on October 26, 2022 while the results were declared on January 25, 2023.

As per news agency–Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Coordination, PHQ J&K, Danesh Rana said that the exam results for 1300 constable posts in 2 Border Battalions of J&K Police have been cancelled after discrepancies were observed due to technical fault in the software application of the implementing agency—M/S. Timing Technologies Pvt. India Ltd.

A notification issued in this regard by ADGP Coordination, reads that after the declaration of final result issued on 25-01-2023 in respect of candidates of UT of J&K who have participated in recruitment process for the post of Constable in 02 Border Battalions of J&K Police conducted in terms of the above referenced advertisement notifications, some discrepancies in the said result were observed.

“These occurred due to technical fault in the software application of the implementing agency i.e M/S. Timing Technologies Pvt. India Ltd. resulting in revision of the said result. The result, thus declared on 25.01.2023 stands withdrawn and cancelled ab-initio,” he said.

Sopore, Feb 19 : Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district held a man with illicit liquor, while the vehicle has also been seized, said an official said here on Sunday afternoon.

An official told that on specific inputs, the vehicle bearing registration Number JK04B-9591 was stopped at a NAKA checking, upon due checking, 01- Old Adventurer Rum 750 ML 10 bottles, 02- Old Adventurer Rum 370 ML 10 bottles, 03- Kerala malted whiskey 375ML 04 bottles, 04- Kerala malted whiskey 180 ML , 05- Old Monk XXX Rum 750 ML 01 bottle, besides 06- kingfisher Beer 500Ml 15 Tin were recovered which was concealed in the vehicle to avoid being noticed by the police during checking.

The arrestee was identified as Farooq Ahmed Ganie son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie of Bunpora Langate in Handwara, the official said. Adding that a vehicle was also seized.

Meanwhile, a Case FIR 25/2023 U/S 48 Excise act in this regard has been registered in Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway.

Uri, Feb 18: As the guns have fallen silent along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the residents now demand better road connectivity, play fields and better infrastructure of government schools.

Earlier, the border residents were demanding community bunkers but with the improvement in situation, they are now demanding better roads, repair of government buildings and residential houses besides upgradation of sports infrastructure.

Locals of Uri area of northern district of Baramulla, while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) complained that the roads, government buildings, and residential houses are in shambles while there is a dire need of upgrading the sports infrastructure.

“The road stretches at Dardkote in Uri are dotted with potholes which speaks volumes about the tall claims of the government of improving road connectivity,” the residents said. “The road is dotted with huge potholes and has not been repaired for the last several years and the authorities concerned are least bothered about the sufferings of people”, said Faisal Khan, a Sarpanch. “The road acts as an important link which connects several areas and thousands of commuters, transporters pass through potholes every day. “The road is in a bad condition. Big pot holes filled with water dots, making the movement of people very difficult.”

The residents expressed concern over the condition of government schools. “Four classes are functioning in a single room at Dardkote,” they said, adding that similar conditions are in maximum government based schools”.

The administration makes tall claims about changing the sports infrastructure at the best, but the areas like Uroosa, Dardkote, Chakra, Isham, Nawa Runda and Govalta in Uri are without a single playground.

The villagers, particularly youth, told KNO that no space is available in their villages for playing sports. “We have appealed and requested the concerned officials several times to demarcate a piece of land for the playground but to no avail. “We are leading a confined life which is taking a heavy toll on our mental and physical health,” they added.

The residents, however, urged the LG administration and the concerned authorities to look into the genuine demands of people, so that they could have a sigh of relief—(KNO)

JK Revolution, Sopore, 18 Feb:- Sopore Police arrested two more drug peddlers during patrolling duty.

Police Party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO PS Insp. Khalid Fayaz under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Raies Ahmad-JKPS, during patrolling at Gousia Abad Chinkipora Sopore, apprehended two drug peddlers identified as: Ashiq Ahmad Ganie S/O Ghulam Qadir of Gousia Abad Chinkipora and Ali Mohammad Lone S/o Mohammad Yousuf Lone of Jalalabad Sopore and during their personal search charas like substance was recovered from their possession, and were arrested on spot.

In this regard, case FIR No. 21/2023 under section 08/20, 29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up.

Srinagar, Feb 17 : Saudi Government has decided to disallow the children below 12 years of age in a bid to ensure their safety, Haj Committee of India (HCoI), informed Friday.

A circular issued by the HCoI, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reads that it is intimated that the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have decided that children below the age of 12 years are not allowed to proceed for Haj 1444(H)-2023 consider the fact that it is not appropriate to accompany children under the age of 12 years to ensure their safety.

“In view of the position explained above, no application of children below the age of 12 years as on 30-04-2023 including infants will be entertained for Haj 1444 2023. Therefore , all Haj applications of the children below 12 years including infants registered till date will be rejected for Haj 1444-2023,” the circular reads.

The circular further reads that it is expected that the authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia might stipulate further health and administrative guidelines in view of the prevailing conditions. The same shall be notified accordingly in the due course of time.

Talking to KNO, HCoI member Er Aijaz Hussain said that the decision to disallow children below 12 years of age is aimed at ensuring their safety and the move is part of Haj policy 2023. He said that new health and administrative guidelines will be issued shortly.

Pertinently, Haj 2023 has been made cheaper by Rs 80,000 and that the pilgrim has to pay only Rs 3, 70,000 against 4.50 lakh paid earlier. Plus, there will be 25 embankments across country this year while as pilgrims above 70 years of age will be prioritized—(KNO)

Srinagar, Feb 17 : As the weather conditions improved in Kashmir, the weatherman on Friday predicted another two-day wet spell in the Valley Kashmir from February 19.

Deputy Director, Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the weather would remain mainly dry tomorrow while there is a possibility of light rain and snow at isolated higher reaches of Kashmir on February 19.

With the possibility of light rains, snow at isolated higher reaches of Kashmir, the weather would remain generally cloudy, he said, adding that on February 20th, there is a possibility of light rain in plains and light to moderate rain and snow in middle and higher reaches during 20th late afternoon to early morning of February 21st.

He further informed that from February 21-24th, the weather would remain occasionally cloudy with mainly dry weather.

The Meteorological department has also advised people to stay alert and away from avalanche prone areas.

Pertinently, the night temperature has increased at most stations of the Valley with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recording a low of 2.8 degree Celsius.

The data available with KNO reads that Pahalgam in South Kashmir recorded below sub-zero temperature at minus 0.9 degree Celsius. It added that Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort, recorded 0.2 degree Celsius.

It further added that minimum temperature at Kupwara, Qazigund and Kokernag was settled at 0.6 degree Celsius, 1.8 degree Celsius and 0.6 degree Celsius respectively—(KNO)
