It is as such requested that 4G eNodeb services be installed in the areas,” the DC wrote in a communique to the telecom providers, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)).
The areas which lack either mobile connectivity facilities or have network issues, according to the order, include Walraman Wagoora, Dodbugh, Limber Boniyar, Rampora Rajpora, Hajibal, Gantamulla Balla, Lachipora-B, Salamabad Dachina, Dalri Dangiwacha, Chotali Boniyar, Laridora and Budden Rafiabad.
The residents of many areas mentioned above had been complaining of poor network services and demanded connectivity towers to avail mobile phone network facility.
“The world is going to witness 5G internet connectivity and here we don’t have a basic cellular network to make a simple phone call,” the people of Rampora belt told KNO.
They said it is “shameful” that in this digital era, the people here are struggling for mobile network connectivity. “This is keeping us away from several government-sponsored schemes which are aimed at the upliftment of rural people,” said Mohammad Younis, a local.
A group of students from the upper belt of Sopore said they have to travel “3 to 4 kilometers away from home just to download our study material or examination datasheet not to speak of learning through online classes”—(KNO)
