The Jammu & Kashmir government has withdrawn all the posts referred to the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB) before October 31, 2019, for which selections have not been finalized till date.

In a communique, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the General Administration Department has informed the PSC and SSB that the administrative council has decided to withdraw all the posts referred to PSC and SSB before 31. 10. 2019 for which selections have not been made till date.

“All posts referred to JKPSC/SSB prior to 31.10.2019, for which selections have not been finalized till date, as also the posts in which there are litigations and the cases are pending in Hon’ble court shall be deemed to have been withdrawn with immediate effect ,” reads the decision of administrative council.

In the letter, the GAD has also directed all the concerned to implement the directions of administrative council in letter and spirit under an intimidation to the GAD—(KNO)

The authorities at Srinagar International Airport on Friday said that flights scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the month of February and March will not operate after 5 pm due to planned repair activities on the runway on these days.

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that
they are commencing the Polymer Modified Emulsion work on the entire runway during the months of February and March.

“This is necessary to strengthen the runway for the operation of flight and also to control the wear and tear. This work is planned on all Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. We will ensure that the flight disruption is reduced to minimum by working only from 5 PM to 6 AM during the night time,” reads the statement.

It reads that the runway will be available and the flights will be operated from 6 AM to 5 PM.

“The flights which were scheduled to operate during this closure time have been rescheduled to operate before 5 PM everyday. The information has already been given to all affected passengers by the respective airlines.”

It reads that passengers of the affected flights are requested to confirm the revised departure times if they have booked their flights during the month of February and March on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays after 5 PM. (KNS)

The duo over vehemently expressed their anguish over this extreme inhuman act and seek stern action against the culprits who together made such grave incident happen which costed the eye sight of someone. They requested government to never to let such incidents happen in future and sought blanket ban of selling of acid while terming it an illicit practice by preferring to axis court i.e supreme court order.

1.  The district administration Srinagar on Thursday provided Rs one lakh as immediate assistance to the acid attack survivor.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Deputy commissioner (DC) Srinagar Muhammad Aijaz Asad and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal visited SMHS hospital here where they met with the family of acid attack survivor.

During the visit, the administration provided immediate assistance of Rs one lakh to the victim girl and has assured all possible assistance for medical treatment and rehabilitation.

Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district felicitated Uzma Zehra who recently qualified for the NEET without attending any private coaching centre.

Umzam is the daughter of Fida Hussain, a resident of Watmagam area of Budgam.

The NEET qualifier has been a student of Government Girls Higher-Secondary School Magam Budgam and belongs to a humble family without much financial strength.

SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem accompanied by DySP Headquarters Budgam Naeem Wani, Dy. SP DAR DPL Budgam Owaise Rashid and other officers of Budgam Police congratulated Uzma Zehra for her achievement.

SSP Budgam interacted with NEET Qualifier and her guardian and presented a trophy, appreciation certificate, and a gift as a token of appreciation. He appreciated her efforts to crack the entrance examination.

SSP Budgam also applauded her extraordinary efforts and hoped it would inspire other youth from the region to work hard towards achieving their goals in order to channelize their energy in the right direction and serve society in the long run.

Moreover, SSP Budgam also presented a Cycle to one young cyclist namely Umar Mohi-din Rather of Humhama Budgam who recently participated in a Cycling Race organized by Budgam Police. Umar completed the 28 kms Cycle race from Budgam to Doodpathri using his father’s ordinary old-style cycle. Jammu and Kashmir reported 1982 fresh covid-19 cases, lowest in 20 days, even as seven persons succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Official sources told GNS that 694 cases were from Jammu Division and 1288 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall infection tally to 442462.

Regarding the fresh fatalities, the officials told GNS that five among them were reported from Jammu division and two from Kashmir valley. So far 4699 people have died due to the virus—2299 in Jammu and 2400 in Kashmir Valley.

Giving district wise details, he said, Srinagar reported 413 cases, Baramulla 253, Budgam 116, Pulwama 44, Kupwara 230, Anantnag 71, Bandipora 56, Ganderbal 44, Kulgam 47, Shopian 14, Jammu 310, Udhampur 74, Rajouri 26, Doda 76, Kathua 62, Samba 34, Kishtwar 28, Poonch 21, Ramban 45 and Reasi 18.

A number of the cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories associated with GMC Srinagar and GMC Anantnag.

Besides, they said, 5093 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time— 1554 from Jammu Division and 3539 from Kashmir. So far 411052 people have recovered, leaving the active case tally at 26711—7682 in Jammu and 19029 in Kashmir.

They said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said. They also informed that 48836 doses of covid-19 vaccine were administered during the time in J&K. (GNS)

Some unknown miscreants have fired three to four rounds of bullets on the car of AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi while he was passing through the Dasna area in Uttar Pradesh.

However, he escaped unhurt in the incident. The incident took place near Chhajarsi toll plaza when Owaisi was leaving for Delhi after a poll event in Meerut.

I was leaving for Delhi after a poll event in Kithaur, Meerut (UP). 3-4 rounds of bullets were fired upon my vehicle by 2 people near Chhajarsi toll plaza; they were a total of 3-4 people. Tyres of my vehicle (in pic) punctured, I left on another vehicle,” Owaisi was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

Owaisi also took to Twitter to confirm the same and said that he has left from the spot in another car.

After the incident, sensation prevailed in the area and Asaduddin Owaisi left the place. A team of police reached the spot and an investigation is underway.

In September last year, the Hyderabad MP’s official residence in New Delhi was vandalized by the members of Hindu Sena. The Delhi Police had later arrested five members of the Hindu Sena.

At least five persons have died in a fatal road mishap in Kishtwar district this evening.

As per initial reports available with GNS, the accident involving an ‘Eco’ vehicle took place at Nagra Keshwan in Kishtwar, leading to death of five persons and critical injuries to another.

The injured have been evacuated from the site and were on way to District Hospital Kishtwar, on filing of this report.

A police official confirming the incident told GNS that as per information available so far, there are five deaths and injuries to another person.

Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, shall remain open for both way traffic on Friday but commuters have been asked to check status of the thoroughfare before travel in view of the inclement weather , officials said.

“Commuters are advised not to travel on Jammu-Srinagar highway (NH-44) without confirming the status of road from TCU Jammu/ Ramban & Srinagar in view of inclement weather prediction issued by met department,” a traffic department official here told GNS.

“However, on 04-02-2022, subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs(passenger)/private cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa ,” he said, adding, “TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.”

He said cut off for LMVs/private cars from Nagrota (Jammu) will be at 0800 hours to 1200 hours, from Jakheni (Udhampur) at 0900 hours to 1300 hours and from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) 0900 hours to 1300 hours “(subject to change depending on the road position then)”
He said no vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings.

Regarding HMVs/Load carriers, he said, “subject to fair weather and better road conditions, they shall be allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu after assessing the traffic situation on highway.” He said TCU Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the highway.

Meanwhile, Mughal Road, connecting Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri districts, remained closed for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation at Peer Ki Gali.

Also,Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road remained shut for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation on Zoji la axis and has been closed till further orders. Kishtwar-Sinthan road also remained closed in view of snow accumulation, the traffic department official said. (GNS)

The Deputy Commissioner  Baramulla  Bhupinder Kumar today convened a meeting of District Tuberculosis Forum committee to review the progress under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) in the district.

On the occasion,  a brief presentation about the achievements of NTEP programmed was presented by District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr Rehana, wherein she informed that 105967 persons have been screened in various medical blocks of the district of which 3514 samples have been collected so far.

It was also informed that  the treatment successful rate is increasing and patients are currently on treatment in the district who are undergoing regular health checkups for their proper treatment.

On the occasion, the DC impressed upon all the members to work with better coordination to ensure cent percent elimination of Tuberculosis disease from the district.

DC directed Chief Medical Officer Baramulla to convene all the BMO’s of the district to mobilize all the available resources productively and effectively in order to get the desired results.

Morever,  DC insisted Nikshay Poshan Yojana to be implemented and TPT TB Preventive therapy to be implemented in letter and spirit  besides mobilising the services of Print and electronic media for the general awareness with regard to TB in common masses.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer Zilla Parishad, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, WHO Representative TB Consultant, HOD Community Medicine GMC Baramulla, President DAK Baramulla besides other concerned functionaries of the district.
