SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 26: Member Parliament, Srinagar Lok Sabha Constituency, Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi today chaired District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting of District Srinagar at Tourist Reception Centre, here.

Chairperson, District Development Council Srinagar, Malik Aftab Ahmad and Member Legislative Assembly, Tanveer Sadiq were present in the meeting.

Besides, Chief Executive Officer SSCL/ Commissioner SMC, Dr Owais Ahmad; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat; ADDC, Srinagar, ADC Srinagar, VC LCMA and Officers & Engineers of all line Departments attended the meeting.

At the outset, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar gave a detailed presentation to give an overview of Central Sponsored Schemes and State Sponsored Schemes implemented by the District Administration Srinagar and the concerned Departments.

The DC shared information about the District profile & demography besides various beneficiary oriented schemes & flagship programmes of different Departments including Rural Development, Rural water Supply, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Power Development Department (KPDCL), Revenue, Education, Health, FCS&CA, Social Welfare & ICDS, Agriculture/Horticulture, Industries & Commerce, National Informatics Centre, Geology & Mining, Employment Generation Schemes, Skill Oriented Programmes, etc.

The DC also apprised the chair regarding the objectives of the scheme and beneficiary targets achieved by the administration through effective & extensive implementation of said schemes.

CEO, SSCL also presented a brief about the successful execution of projects under Srinagar Smart City Limited regarding beautification of the City.

He briefed the chair regarding Development, Rejuvenation & Streamlining of City roads, walkways, cycle tracks, River Front Development, Development of Central Business District Area, Heritage Conservation & Renovation, LakeFront Development, Intelligent Traffic Management System, ICCC, Smart Bus Service, steps taken for Green & Resilient Srinagar and other IT driven initiatives. He informed that the ongoing projects of SSCL shall be completed by March 2025.

Addressing the DISHA meeting, Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi commended District Administration and SSCL for exemplary achievements in implementation of beneficiary schemes and execution of developmental projects in the City.

He asked the Deputy Commissioner to set higher targets for beneficiary oriented schemes to cover maximum citizens besides exhorted for mass awareness regarding welfare, beneficiary and employment schemes through mainstream media, social and organization of programmes at Halqa levels.

Regarding the supply of quality drinking water to households, the MP directed the Deputy Commissioner to address the issue of contamination of water which is affecting the quality and colour of drinking water & spreading diseases.

Responding to the concern, DC vouched that all filtration plants supply pure water which is ensured by frequent lab tests at plants. He said that issues of leakages in pipes will be addressed promptly.

On the occasion, MP Mehdi emphasized on restoration of Natural Springs which are in dilapidated condition.

To address one of the major concerns of the City of Dog Menace, Mehdi asked SMC to take urgent measures to address the issue at the earliest.

On the occasion, Commissioner SMC briefed the chair regarding the ongoing measures to control the population of canines in the City including infrastructural development for sterilization and Rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, MP urged SMC for operationalization of nonfunctional toilet blocks particularly at Batamaloo.

He also enjoined DC and CEO SSCL for framing DPRs for development of Downtown areas and Dal Lake interiors.

Taufeeq ahmad, December 26: Police Station Kreeri today hosted a special event to mark Thana Diwas, aimed at fostering better police-public relations and addressing public grievances. The program was chaired by DSP PC Pattan, Dr. Urfaan, who attended as the Chief Guest.

Among other dignitaries present were SDPO Kreeri, SHO Kreeri, and several prominent citizens from the Kreeri area. The event provided a platform for open dialogue where local residents shared their concerns and suggestions with the police officials.

In his address, Dr. Urfaan emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring law and order and highlighted the police department’s commitment to resolving public issues promptly.

Citizens appreciated the initiative, calling it a step forward in strengthening trust and collaboration between the police and the public. The event concluded with assurances from the police to address grievances and enhance the safety and security of the region.

RAMBAN, DECEMBER 26: The District Administration Ramban, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, organized a comprehensive training for enumerators, supervisors, and other stakeholders for Mission YUVA Baseline Survey.

The program, presided over by District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Ganesh Kumar and Assistant Director Employment Amit Kumar, focused on equipping the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for conducting the baseline survey under Mission YUVA.

Three master trainers led the session, providing detailed guidance on utilizing the online mobile application for the survey. They explained the survey’s methodology and objectives in two sessions, emphasizing its paperless nature.

The baseline survey, scheduled to begin on January 1, 2025, and conclude on January 31, 2025, will involve approximately 600 enumerators, supervisors, and allied staff across Ramban district.

During the training, about 120 enumerators from Block Ramban and Municipal Committee Ramban received hands-on instruction. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment where participants’ queries were addressed on the spot.

The remaining enumerators will undergo training tomorrow, December 27, at four designated locations across the district.

This initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring the successful implementation of Mission YUVA, which aims to deliver precise and actionable data for developmental planning.

BHADARWAH, DECEMBER 26: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sunil Kumar convened a meeting today at Dak Bungalow Bhaderwah to discuss arrangements for the celebration of Republic Day 2025.

The discussions were held regarding security measures, first aid facilities, sanitation, fire and emergency services, seating arrangements, uninterrupted power and water supply, and the issuance of invitation cards. It was also decided that government buildings and offices will be illuminated by the respective departments as part of the celebrations.

It was informed that the Republic Day function will be held at New Bus Stand Kotli. The National flag will be unfurled at 9:55 AM, followed by a march-past parade featuring contingents from JKAP, NCC Senior Division, NCC Junior Division and tiny platoons from government and private schools. Additionally, cultural programs will be performed by students from various schools.

The day will commence with the playing of Shehnai Vadan by the Information Department.

The full dress rehearsal for the event will take place on January 24, 2025.

The meeting was attended by the Tehsildar, CDPO, Deputy Commander CRPF, Principal GGHSS, AEE JPDCL, TSO and representatives of other departments.

RAMBAN, DECEMBER 26: The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, on Thursday organized a Public Mela in Ramban to raise awareness about the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

The event aimed to educate the public on the scheme’s provisions, which focus on providing affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity to households.

Besides ensuring on-the-spot registration of beneficiaries, the officials from JPDCL highlighted various aspects of the scheme, including energy conservation measures, subsidies for solar installations, and benefits for rural and urban households. Informative sessions and interactive stalls were set up to address queries and encourage people to enroll in the scheme.

The Executive Engineer JPDCL Shakti Singh Jamwal, AEE Vijay Kumar Tripathi emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring electricity access for all and urged citizens to take full advantage of the scheme to enhance their quality of life.

The mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from locals, making it a successful initiative in promoting energy sustainability and public welfare in the district.

RAJOURI, DECEMBER 26: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow to review the preparations for the Republic Day -2025 Celebrations.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the security arrangements, activity plan featuring cultural programs and other events planned for the Republic Day celebrations. He stressed the need for close coordination among departments to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the celebrations.

The meeting decided that departmental stalls would be displayed at the venue to generate mass awareness about the Flagship Schemes of the Government. These stalls will provide the public an insight into welfare programs and initiatives aimed at fostering economic development and progress in the district.

The DC directed the concerned officers to finalize arrangements well in advance and ensure that all aspects, including logistics, seating, and crowd management are meticulously planned. He also emphasized maintaining the sanctity of the event while celebrating it with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor.

The Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to work in tandem to make the Republic Day celebrations a memorable and meaningful occasion for the people of Rajouri.

JAMMU, DECEMBER 26: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo today held a meeting of top civil administration and police officers to take stock of the preparations made for celebrating the upcoming Republic Day, 2025 here in the UT.

The Chief Secretary took this occasion to impress upon the concerned divisional administration to take necessary steps to encourage people to participate in this national event. He asked for creating celebratory aura through out J&K especially in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar.

Dulloo took this occasion to direct the administration to illuminate all the landmark sites and prominent government buildings. He also stressed on ensuring plausible transport and seating arrangements for the school children.

The Chief Secretary further instructed for making adequate arrangements for parking of vehicles besides ensuring smooth movement of traffic on roads. He took note of the kind of security arrangements required to be put in place for ensuring smooth conduct of this significant event.

During this meeting he keenly enquired about the cultural segments to be presented during the program. He asked for giving opportunity to the school children and the specially abled students of the UT.

He also encouraged the Departments of Culture to make a tableaux on cultural diversity of J&K, PDD on PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Police on Drug Abuse, Health on TB Mukt J&K and YS&S on Fit India Movement.

In addition the Information Department was obligated to ensure live telecast of the main functions from the regional units of Doordarshan and All India Radio besides facilitating the media persons in carrying out their professional assignments.

The other agenda items which came up for discussion during this meeting includes the uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation of the venues besides the accomplishment of other civil works taken up by the R&B Department to ready the venues at both Jammu and Srinagar.

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 25: A District level event was organized today at DC office, Srinagar to celebrate the inauguration of 10,000 New M-PACS, Dairy and Fishery Cooperative Societies across the nation.

The event was organized in line with the mega event organised at ICAR, Pusa Road, New Delhi being presided over by Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Amit Shah.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Syed Ahmad Kataria was the chief guest at the district level event.

The event witnessed the participation of newly registered multi purpose primary agricultural credit societies (M-PACS) of the district. All the participants connected virtually with the mega event held at New Delhi.

The chief guest on the occasion distributed registration certificates to newly registered M-PACS and appreciated the contributions made by the Cooperatives in the economy.

The event also saw the presence of Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Srinagar, representatives from M-PACS and officials of the Department of Cooperatives.

POONCH, DECEMBER 25: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Mendhar and presided over a public darbar held to address the grievances and developmental issues of the local population.

On the occasion, scores of delegations comprising employees, common citizens from different areas and departments met the Minister to apprise him of their grievances and demands. The delegations raised collective and individual issues and sought their early redressal.

The issues raised by the delegations pertained to welfare schemes, public utilities, better drinking water facilities, firewood, health, roads, tribal issues and other developmental issues.

While giving patient hearing to grievances brought into his notice by various delegations and individuals, the Minister assured them that all their genuine issues would be examined for prompt redressal. He also issued on the spot directions to the concerned officers to take cognisance of the issues pertaining to their departments.

Emphasising the need for transparency and accountability in the governance process, Javed Rana said that these are the two cornerstones that connect the people closer to the government and make the decision making more effective and inclusive. He directed the officers of the district administration to switch over to proactive mode to address people’s developmental issues. He further asked them to conduct field visits to ensure grievances are addressed effectively.

During the darbar, the Minister also sought on the spot response from the concerned officers present during the public darbar.

Present in the public darbar included Executive Engineer, STD Kalakote, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Poonch Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Poonch, ACP Poonch, SDM Mendhar AEE Jal Shakti, Poonch and other officers from the district.

DODA, DECEMBER 25: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda Harvinder Singh chaired a meeting today at Dak Banglow Bhaderwah to finalize the arrangements for the New Year Vibrant Bhaderwah Festival 2024. Scheduled from December 29 to December 31, the three-day celebration is being organized by the Department of Tourism, J&K in collaboration with the District Administration Doda.

The meeting was attended by the CEO Bhaderwah Development Authority, ADC Bhaderwah, ASP Bhaderwah, DFO Bhaderwah, district officers designated as nodal officers for the festival arrangements and representatives from Sanatan Dharm Sabha, Islamia Committee, Adventure Association, Hoteliers, Youth Committee, Tour and Trade Associations, Civil Society members, Excursion Agents, BATA Association, and ABTA Association.

The festival aims to highlight Bhaderwah’s natural beauty and adventure tourism potential, with events scheduled at Jai Valley, Guldanda, and Bhaderwah Fort on December 29 and 30, culminating in a grand celebration at the New Bus Stand Bhaderwah on December 31, 2024.

The Key Features of the Festival include Adventure Activities like Skiing, sledging, zorbing, cycling, zip-lining, hot air ballooning, and rafting at Shibnote (Premnagar).

Cultural and Departmental Exhibitions, showcasing the region’s heritage and the government initiatives, besides cuisine stalls offering a variety of local and traditional dishes are other highlights of the event.

Chief Executive Officer BDA has been designated as the Nodal Officer to oversee all festival arrangements, while State Tax Officer (CTO) would act as the nodal officer for coordination

Medicare facility and ambulance services would be made available by the Chief Medical Officer to meet any health emergency.

The event will feature Cultural performances by local and celebrity artists and the responsibility for managing the saame has been conferred to District Information Officer and Culture and Education Departments.

To ensure best quality and hygienic food at the eateries, AD FCS&CA will be managing food stalls in coordination with NRLM and DUDA. The logistic and stage mounting arrangements are being made by the PWD (R&B) Bhaderwah.

An exhibition cum sale of local handicraft and handloom being organised by the Cooperative department would be another major attraction of the event.

The Fire & Emergency Services department has been put on alert to ensure venue safety with deployment of fire tenders and scrutiny of the venue. The Government Degree College is coordinating a literary festival on the sidelines of the event.

The DDC emphasized on making foolproof arrangements for the festival aimed at promoting Bhaderwah as a major tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir. He directed all departments and stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure the success of this grand event.

Highlighting the potential of tourism to foster economic growth, the DDC urged the public to participate actively, making the Vibrant Bhaderwah Festival 2024 a memorable experience for visitors and locals alike.
