SRINAGAR, JUNE 20: The J&K Sports Council Football Academy trainee Maroof Shafi has been selected for the FIFA-AIFF Academy selection trials based on his outstanding performance.

This was informed through a communication by the All India Football Federation to various State/UTs.

Meanwhile, it was also informed that the trials for the FIFA-AIFF Academy will take place in Odisha Football Academy, 7th Battalion, Gajapati Nagar, Bhubaneswar, Odisha 751013, from 22nd, June to 25th June, 2024. Selected players are directed to report on June 21st, 2024 at the venue, the letter reads.

Nuzhat Gul, Secretary JKSC, congratulated Maroof, who hails from Budgam District, on his selection for the FIFA-AIFF Academy Trials in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This is a testament to his talent, hard work, and dedication to the game of football, she added.

After graduating from SCFA, Maroof has been associated with various other teams as well.

In keeping with the JKSC’s objective, we aim more and more of our local footballers in the National Teams as well as in the top football clubs of the world, said Nuzhat.

It is worth mentioning that over the years JKSC Football Academy has produced around 13 players for Indian National Teams and Professional Clubs of the country.

KUPWARA, JUNE 20: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan Thursday chaired a meeting here to review progress on National Highway- 701, RKCTC (Rafiabad-Kupwara-Chowkibal-Trehgam-Chamkote) National Highway project.

The deliberations focused on inter-departmental coordination, submission of draft awards, Section 3D, section 3G, utility shifting, ROW issues and resolving bottlenecks for smooth execution of this important road project.

The DDC meticulously reviewed the status of Langate Bye-Pass, Kupwara Bye-Pass, Trehgam Bye-Pass and curve improvement at Braripora, Vodhpora, Nutnoosa, Drugmulla, Bomhama, Gulgam and Hiri and directed the concerned departments to ramp up the process and complete it within the stipulated time frame.

She stressed the need for close coordination among the stakeholder departments and agencies involved in the execution of the NH-701, RKCTC project. The DC directed the officers to work in a complete synergy, so that this crucial national highway project is completed without any delay.

She directed the concerned departments to follow the timelines strictly and submit the draft awards and other necessary requirements within their timeframe.

The DDC directed the Beacon authorities to video graph the joint surveys, alignments and share ROW maps and copies of utility shifting projects with the Revenue officers.

She emphasized the concerned officers to be meticulous and take the services of the best teams as there is no scope of any error in this vital road project.

She stressed upon the revenue officers to keep a close vigil on the acquired land for the highway project so that it is not encroached upon.

Earlier, Officer Commanding 109, RCC Beacon, V.V Sharma appraising the chair said that the total length of the NH-701, RKCTC Project is 119 kms. Under Package-1, from Delina to Guglosa 51- kms of the highway project has been approved, most portion of the land for the road project under Package -1 has been acquired and tender has been allotted.

From Gugloosa to Chamkote, remaining 68- kms of the national highway length area has been sanctioned by MoRT&H under Package-2 for which DPR formulation is underway.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather; ACR Kupwara, SDM Karnah, Executive Engineers, OC- Beacon, concerned Tehsildars, Chief Horticulture Officer Kupwara and other concerned officers.

KISHTWAR, JUNE 18: The three-day National Convention on Peace and Harmony, organized by the National Youth Project in collaboration with Social Reform and Charitable Organisation concluded today at the Ashiana Complex in Kishtwar.

The convention, which began on June 15 upto 17 June, saw the participation of more than 32 representatives from various states, fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several dignitaries including Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kishtwar Mahmud Anwar Alnasir, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom.

The event was also attended by President of the Social Reform and Charitable Organisation, Sanjeev Parihar; Senior Vice President SRCO Advocate Kuldeep Sharma along with local youth, prominent personalities from Kishtwar, and the residents of Ashiana.

The inaugural session featured insightful discourses on the teachings and youth initiatives championed by S. N. Subba Rao, the founder of the National Youth Project.

The session also shed light on the philosophies and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, emphasizing their roles in promoting peace and harmony and mobilizing youth for social change.

Keynote speakers, including Ramesh Bhaya, trustee of Vinoba Seva Ashram in Bartara, Shahajahanpur; Ajay Pandey, advisor to the National Youth Project; Suresh Rathi; R. C. Gupta; Jagdish Chowdhary; and Sanjay Rai.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, in his address, stressed the importance of involving Kishtwar’s youth in the National Youth Project to channel their energy towards constructive endeavors. He underscored the potential of youth in contributing to the district’s development and emphasized the need for such initiatives to harness their capabilities effectively.

Later, a Prabhat Pheri was organized by representatives from the National Youth Project, alongside local youths and residents of Ashiana from Dak Bungalow to Kokila Chowk, Kuleed. This was followed by a cleanliness drive at Chowgan Ground, reinforcing the message of community service and environmental consciousness.

The convention also included a meeting at Asraria Public High School and in the Sarthal area, where representatives of the National Youth Project engaged with local youth and prominent individuals providing valuable opportunities for dialogue and the exchange of ideas, further strengthening the community’s commitment to peace and harmony.

As the convention concluded, participants expressed their appreciation for the enriching experience and the valuable insights gained.

JUNE 17: Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) along with Justice N. Kotiswar Singh, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority) and Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority) conducted an extensive inspection of the Central Jail Srinagar with a purpose to take first hand stock of the living conditions of jail inmates and functioning of the jail.

The distinguished delegation was warmly received by Deepak Kumar, Director General Prisons, J&K, Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA, Srinagar and Sheikh Zulfiqar Azad, Superintendent, Central Jail Srinagar.

The inspection covered various aspects of operation of jail, including the Jail Legal Aid Clinic, Welfare Block, Vocational Training Centre, Computer Training Centre, Music and Fine Arts Centre, Calligraphy Centre, Jail Hospital, Kitchen Area, Women Block Prisoners, and the exclusive Women-Centric Tailoring Centre. The Medical Center within the jail premises was also inspected and a detailed review about the de-addiction facilities for jail inmates were reviewed.

Justice Khanna extended Eid greetings to the jail inmates, emphasizing the spirit of compassion. During his visit, he interacted with several inmates, addressing their concerns and assuring them of continued efforts to improve their living conditions and access to justice. The interaction also included a meeting with the officers of the Central Jail, where Justice Khanna discussed the importance of effective legal aid provisions, rehabilitation and skill development programs for inmates.

As a token of respect the jail inmates presented paintings to the Justice Khanna, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh and Justice Tashi and also expressed their gratitude for visiting them on this auspicious occasion of Eid. Another highlight of the visit was a live musical performance by the jail inmates, showcasing their talents and the positive impact of the rehabilitation programs.

Justice Khanna highlighted the introduction of a unique and full-time Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) system, designed to benefit those who are unable to afford legal representation in various courts. This initiative aims to ensure that every individual, regardless of their financial status, has access to justice and fair representation in our system which is not only robust but also a unique concept as compared to the other parts of the world.

Justice Khanna praised the efforts of the prison administration in providing inmates with vocational and educational training, which is crucial for their reintegration into society. He also commended the staff for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the jail premises and ensuring the welfare of the inmates.

Those who were present on the occasion include Shahzad Azeem, Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, M.K. Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Registrar Judicial, Prem Sagar, Secretary, High Court Legal Services Committee, Abdul Bari, Joint Registrar (Judicial), Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi, Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, Showkat Ahmad, SP North Srinagar, Officers of CRPF, Shabir Ahmad, Deputy Superintendent, Central Jail Srinagar, Medical Officers and Para Medical Staff of Jail Hospital and members of LADC system as well PLVs.

JAMMU, JUNE 16: On the directions of Commissioner, JMC, Rahul Yadav, a joint team of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Doctors deputed by Sheep Husbandry Department viz. Dr. Ramandeep Singh & Dr. Jiwan Lal along with Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr. Divya Sharma, conducted various surprise Meat inspection drives on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha 2024 in different areas of Jammu City to ensure the sale of wholesome, good quality meat and meat byproducts to the consumers. The surprise drives were conducted in Talab Tillo, Bohri, Muthi, Bantalab, Paloura, Janipur, Ambphalla, CPO chowk, Narwal, Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal, Satwari, Talab Khatikan & Shahidi Chowk etc.

During the drives, various meat shops, chicken shops & fishmongers were inspected and about 25 Kg of substandard meat was seized and later on disposed off scientifically. Also a fine to the tune of Rs. 10,000/- was imposed to the meat sellers for selling unstamped, unhygienic & substandard meat.

Meat & chicken shop vendors were also instructed to keep separate bins to collect the daily waste generated on account of refused/inedible meat & chicken parts for further proper disposal through JMC vehicles.

MVO, JMC, Dr. Divya Sharma also sensitize all the shopkeepers/ Vendors dealing with meat/chicken products to maintain hygienic environment in and around their shops and adhere with the various provisions of Food Safety Act, 2006, Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 and other directions & guidelines issued by the JMC from time to time so that good quality hygienic meat shall reach to the consumers. Also, dustbins were distributed among various meat/chicken shop owners for proper waste collection.

Mehbooba greets people on eve of Eid-ul- Azha

Srinagar 16 June : The Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti extended her warm greetings and best wishes to the people on the eve of Eid ul Azha.
In her message, Mehbooba emphasised the importance of Eid ul Azha as a time for introspection, gratitude, and coming together as a community. She also urged to celebrate this Eid with austerity and simplicity and remember the needy on this occasion.

Mehbooba expressed her earnest desire for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and the entire region.
She prayed for a joyous and blessed Eid ul Azha to everyone & expressed hope that this festive occasion would bring peace, harmony, and prosperity to Jammu and Kashmir and foster unity among its diverse communities. ‘

SRINAGAR, JUNE 15: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting on the security situation and also reviewed the progress of various development projects of Kashmir Division.

The meeting was attended by Sh Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Sh Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Home Department; Sh Vijay Kumar, ADGP Law & Order; Sh Nitish Kumar, ADGP CID; Sh Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; Sh Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, DIGs, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and other senior officials.

The Lt Governor directed the Civil and Police administration to work in close coordination with the security agencies to neutralise the terror ecosystem.

He said those who are aiding and abetting terrorists and their ecosystem should not be spared.

During the meeting, the Lt Governor sought the action taken report from the DCs and SSPs to curb the menace of drug abuse in their respective districts.

The meeting also discussed the preparations made by the districts and police administration ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Yoga Diwas and Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

The meeting discussed important matters related to yatra including security and traffic management, upgradation of roads; earmarking of areas for tents, langar services; RFID Cards and 100% implementation of pre-paid services of ponies and pithoos.

The Lt Governor also reviewed the progress of various development projects, delivery of public services and implementation of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and other government-run schemes and programmes.

The Lt Governor also congratulated the DCs and SSPs for the successful and peaceful conduct of Parliamentary elections and Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela.

DODA, JUNE 14: In connection with the celebration of World Blood Donors Day, the health department under the supervision of CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar organized a blood donation camp at AH, GMC Doda in collaboration with District Red Cross Society and Blood Bank AH GMC Doda here today.

At AH GMC Doda, the programme was attended by ADC Doda, MS AH GMC Doda and officers/officials from Health & GMC Doda.

During the camp, a total of 14 donors donated their blood viz 06 from CRPF, 04 from the Army and 04 others.

Similarly, a blood donation camp was also organized at SDH Bhaderwah by BMO Bhaderwah Dr Mohd Ashraf, wherein 09 pints of blood were donated by CRPF personnel to commemorate the significance of the day.

Speaking on the occasion, CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar said that World Blood Donor Day, is celebrated annually on 14th June, is a worldwide celebration to honor and thank those people who donate their blood, voluntarily and unpaid, to give others the gift of life, adding that the day reaffirms the importance of blood donation in saving the lives of people who are in dire need of blood.

The CMO Doda also thanked the GMC authorities including MS AH GMC Doda, HOD Blood Bank and Staff of GMC Doda for their support and particularly thanked Army and CRPF personnel for coming forward to be a part of this noble mission

UDHAMPUR, JUNE 14: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women,Udhampur organised an awareness drive on “legal aid and counsel” in collaboration with DLSA Udhampur at SBI RSETI, Shiv Nagar Udhampur.

The main objective of the drive was to bridge the gap and make legal services accessible to all segments of our society.

The programme was organised under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai and overall guidance of District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta.

During the programme, Akhil Dubey (Advocate DLSA) talked about free legal services provided by DLSA. He also provide information regarding legal rights and articles related to it like IPC Section 354 , 354(A), 354(B), 354(C) and 354 (D), Fundamental rights of women, POSH Act, POSCO Act etc .

Later, Jyoti Pathania (District Mission Coordinator) Sankalp HEW Udhampur encouraged the participants to be self-dependent, both socially and economically which will help in effective elimination of Gender inequality or Gender based violence in a society. She further stated that it is a must for a woman to know her rights in a society.

Meanwhile, gender specialist ( Pooja Jamwal) aware the participants about various women centric schemes running in District Udhampur i.e SMAS, Pension Schemes, SSY,Tejaswini, other loan schemes, One Stop Centre Sakhi, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao etc.

Director SBI RSETI, senior faculty member SBI RSETI, PLV ( DLSA) and around 60 participants were present in the program.
