Bandipora Feb 25 : Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad today convened a meeting at Mini Secretariate to review the progress of Education sector.

During the meeting, the DDC took a comprehensive review of the various aspects of education sector including performance of students in recently declared class 10th and 12th results.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Bandipora Afsar Ali Khan, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Chief Education Officer Bandipora Ab. Roub Shaad, Principal DIET Matiuallah Masoodi, Dy.CEO, Principals and Headmasters of Various Higher secondary Schools and High Schools.

During the meeting detailed presentation of recently declared 10th, 12th result and preparedness for reopening of schools was presented by Chief Education Officer and the results were analysed and discussed.

The expert academicians presented their views suggestions and recommendations in the backdrop of the results aiming at improving results in future.

Speaking on the occassion, Dr Owais said there are challenges in every field but it is our responsibilty to find the way. He said the results needs to be analysed threadbare to identify the loopholes so that those can be rectified in future.

DC said, Bandipora being the land of Alim Adad and Aab, should lead the education sector. He said it is our collective responsibilty to ensure quality education through Govt. Schools.

He said, District administration is extensivly working for progress and better outcomes from Government Schools. He assured every possible support to uplift quality of education sector. He urged to incorporate expert views for better results.

Joint Director Planning said Quarterly or monthly assessment are essential for preparing the student for exams of any nature. He said, it is the teacher who can monitor regular performance of student regularly

CEO Bandipora appraised the chair that Department has took up rationalisation zone wise for maintaining teacher student ration. He said we have sufficient and competent teachers available who also worked tirelessly during covid.

The meeting also discussed the reopening of schools, vaccination of students and other logistics. DC Bandipora directed officers to ensure all arrangements are put in place well before the reopening of schools to ensure smooth teaching learning process.

The parents of missing 8-year-old boy who vanished from his home at Awoora village of Kupwara district without a trace 11 days ago are pleading for his safe return.

As per the family, Talib Hussain son of Manzoor Ahmad Khan disappeared moments after he left home on the fateful day.

“We searched every noon and corner but no to avail,” inconsolable parents of Talib told GNS.

“I am dying with each passing second. I don’t know if I’m alive or dead in absence of Talib,” the minor’s mother said. “We request those have taken away our son to have some mercy and for God’s sake return him to us” she said as tears starts rolling down her cheek.

“Our hand folded request to abductor (s) is to return our Talib. We promise that we will not take any action against the person. Just return our missing son,” the parents said.

When contacted SSP Kupwara said that investigations are underway.
“We have questioned a number of people and have also announced reward for anyone who helps in tracing the innocent child,” he said, adding, “A team under the command of additional SP is investigating the matter and exploring all the possible angles to trace the child.”(GNS)

Maliq Nasir, Baramulla, Feb 25 : Mr Rayees Abdullah, Tehsildar Uri had assumed the additional charge as Tehsildar Boniyar and he will be available for three days in Boniyar and three in Uri respectively for the Grievience redressal of the people of sub division Uri.

Rayees Abdullah was given a formal welcome by senior officers including Naib Tehsildars, Revenue Officials and other Officers for taking up reigns of administration of the Tehsil Boniyar and Uri.

Speaking to the JK Revolution’s special correspondent, Mr Rayees advised the officers to work as a team with a dedication to fulfil the aspirations of the people and enhance the quality of public service delivery in Uri as well as in Boniyar.

Besides accessible and responsive administration, he stressed on effective grievance redressal, transparency and accountability and sought full cooperation from the officers in this regard.

Mr Rayees Abdullah will be present At Boniyar and Uri for 3 days each respectively.

He stressed that the Sign and symbol of Conscious and progressive Society is the “Rule of Law”. which shall be ensured at all cost for the greater cause of Public welfare and peace

Sinha’s car met with an accident in Varanasi town of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, media reports said.

Sinha was on way to this hometown Ghazipur from Varanasi.

Reports said that the car in which Sinha was traveling hit an iron pillar damaging the window of the car, however, the J&K LG escaped unhurt.

The incident occurred near Rajghat bridge.

Sinha had sustained injuries in a road accident in UP back in 2016 when he was Union Minister of State for Railways. (KNT)

Six persons from remote Warwan area of Kishtwar district, who were “missing” after starting journey by foot via snow-bound Margan Top in Anantnag on Tuesday, “safely” reached their residence on Friday.

“They are about to reach home. People have seen them en route to their residences,” Sarpanch of the area Azad Nabi Lone told GNS over phone. “All six of them have reached safely.”

This comes a day after authorities launched a “rescue mission” to search them at Margan Top in Anantnag.

One team, headed by SDM, proceeded by road alongwith snow cutter machine and JCB. Second team started by foot and comprised Army Rescue team and Local volunteers, officials said.

Third was by helicopter from Larkipora and was waiting for weather to improve, the officials had said.

Official sources told GNS that amid fresh snowfall, the six persons had started their journey by foot through Margan top, a high mountain pass which connects Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district with the Anantnag district.

The persons included Ajaz Ahmad Koka son of Abdul Rehman Koka, Mohammad Akbar Koka son of Ghulam Qadir Koka, Ghulam Nabi son of Ghulam Qadir Koka, Gulzar Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad Koka, Manzoor Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad Koka and Idrees Ahmad son of Sunna ullah Dar, all residents of Choidraman Warwan.

These persons had called their families at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday and informed them about moving through Margan Top. Since then there was no contact with them, they said. (GNS)

JD(U) Party J&K Chief G.M shaheen urged the Union Government of India to take up necessary steps for ensuring the safe evacuation of all students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir who are stranded in the war-hit Ukraine and Russia region.

He said the families of these students are worried and given the suspension of flight operations, students are pushed into complete uncertainty.

Urging the Union Minister of External Affairs of the Government of India to intervene with the Government of Ukraine and Russia to assist these J&K students, shaheen hoped for a safe and early return of students

SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 24:- In order to curb the menace of drugs and to break the supply chain in the District, the District Magistrate, Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad alongwith Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Balwal Thursday evening launched a massive crack down against the drug peddling and raided hotspots of drug consumption in various parts of the City.

The raids were carried out at Zero bridge and other locations in Raj Bagh area of City wherein some persons found in substance abuse on the spot were rounded up. Based on the input given by them several shops were sealed after incriminating material was found there.

Speaking about the raids, the District Magistrate Srinagar said the operation was carried  on receipt of specific inputs. Pertinent to mention that District Administration Srinagar has launched MISSION WAAPSI with the aim to save and  safeguard the youth from dangerous exposure to different kind of substance/ drug abuse.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Mr Rakesh Balwal said operation against drug peddling and consumption shall continue to tighten the noose against the drug dealers and peddlers. This is being done for greater common good of the society.

Pertinent to mention that parents of some youth have been repeatedly visting the Office of the District Magistrate Srinagar asking to keep their child in detention so that they get rid of the substance abuse.

Chamber of commerce and industry Kashmir on Thursday urged LG administration of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure safe evacuation of of all stranded J&K students from Russia and Ukraine.

CCIK president Tariq Ghani has urged the LG administration of Manoj Sinha to take up necessary steps for ensuring the safe evacuation of all students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir who are stranded in the war-hit Ukraine and Russia region.

Tariq Ghani has urged UT administration to raise the issue with union Government and Ministry of Foreign affairs to ensure the safety of the students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir.

Baramulla, February 24:- The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar today convened a meeting of the concerned officers in his office Chamber in order to finalize the Action Plan and arrangements being put in place in the district for smooth conduct of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme (IPPI) -2022 scheduled for 27th of this month.

On the occasion, District Immunization Officer Baramulla, Dr. Waheeda Firdous appraised DC that as many as 162175 children of the district in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered polio vaccines on February 27 across the district for which adequate arrangements have been put in place.
The DC was informed that 845 vaccination booths have been established in several medical zones of the district with deployment of 1175 health workers, 1186 Asha Workers and 169 Supervisors.
Further 11 Transit vaccination booths operated in all blocks across the district have been set up to facilitate the people, the DIO added.

After taking a detailed review, the DC said that it is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to achieve the fixed targets to keep the district polio free.
Morever, the DC asked for wide publicity of the program through mass media so that no child is left out especially in the far-flung areas of the district.

The meeting was attended by Programme Officer ICDS, Mohd Asadullah Rather, Chief Education Officer, G.M.Lone, District Immunization Officer, Dr. Waheeda Firdous, District Health Officer, Bajan Kour, District Social Welfare Officer, Showkat Ahmad Showkat besides all Block Medical Officer of the district were present on the occasion.

Earlier a delegation headed by Sarpanch of the area met Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Raghav Langer for help to trace the missing persons from Choidraman Warwan.

“The Divisional Commissioner told us that the air force and army will carry out searches to trace the missing as soon as the weather improves,” Sarpanch of the area Azad Nabi Lone told GNS over phone.

Azad said the divisional commissioner asked if there are any shelters along the route. “I told him there are a few shelters on Margen top and Narbalan. There is a possibility of their survival if somehow the missing persons have reached these shelters. Otherwise chances of their survival are very rare,” he said.
