Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh and all ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police have condoled and expressed grief over the sad demise of ADGP Shri Masud Choudhary (retired).

In his condolence message the DGP has expressed his grief over the loss of a prominent educator, social reformer, an administrator and a par excellent Police officer. He said that the officer was a great source of knowledge and a great human being. His services & contributions to the organization and to the society will always be remembered.

DGP, J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh, Commandant General HG, CD & SDRF Dr B Srinivas, Spl DG Crime J&K Shri A K Choudhary, ADsGP Shri Mukesh Singh, Shri M K Sinha, Shri Danesh Rana and other top serving and retired Police officers of J&K Police attended the wreath laying ceremony of the departed officer at Channi Himmat, Jammu.

 

DGP J&K has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and relatives of the departed officer on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Pariwar and prayed for the departed soul.

 

A law graduate Shri Masud Choudhary began his career as DySP in 1967 in J&K Police who was later inducted to IPS cadre. He has contributed to the J&K Police in various capacities which includes District Police Chief of Jammu, Kathua, Poonch, Udhampur and Srinagar districts, SSP Vigilance Jammu and CID SB Jammu. As DIG he was posted at Vigilance J&K, Jammu-Kathua range, Administrator PHQ, Director Police Academy. He served as IGP & ADGP Crime & Railways J&K and retired as ADGP Police Headquarters in the year 2003. He was also the founder Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University.

Baramulla, December 16: In order to review the arrangements for celebration of Good Governance week commencing in the district from 19th December to 25th December, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina today chaired a meeting with the concerned officers here at DC Office Complex.

 

Superintending Engineer R&B,Assistant Commissioner Revenue Baramulla, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, Sub Divisional Megistrate Pattan Syed Faheem, Chief Agriculture officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Revenue officers besides other functionaries of concerned departments were present on the occasion.

 

Pertinently , the week long celebration of Good Governance aims at redressal of public grievances besides improving service delivery titled “Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur” under the theme ‘Sarkar Har Shehri Kay Dawar’.

Speaking on the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla said that the mega events shall be organised across all the Sub divisions of the district. He said that all the district officers shall visit to every Panchayat and take a detailed note of all the issues of the people at their door steps.

The ADC further said that the week long programme aims at saturation of Self Employment Schemes at Panchayat/Village level.

He directed the officers to intensify the Campaigns against Drug Abuse and Corruption in the district.

The meeting also discussed that Grievance redressal camps shall be organised at Panchayat and Block level which shall includes doorstep delivery of various services.

It was also given out that Sensitisation programs shall be held at Panchayat level focussing segregation of waste at source.

Meanwhile, the ADC informed that District Officers will be deputed to Villages for monitoring progress of various developmental activities in the district wherein Assistant Commissioner Development Shall Co-ordinate at Block and Panchayat level.

Later, in a seperate meeting, the ADC also reviewed the process of Change of Land Use in the district where in various cases were taken up besides their reporting and follow up status by the concerned departments.

Jammu, Dec 16: Army on Friday said that there was firing incident by militants near military hospital Rajouri and two individuals were killed.

“In a early morning firing incident by unidentified terrorists at Rajouri near Military Hospital, there has been fatal casualty of two individuals,” army said in a tweet, adding, “The Police, security forces and civil administration officials are on the site.” (GNS)

Srinagar, Dec 16: Sub-zero temperatures continued unabated in Kashmir Valley with Srinagar recording season’s coldest night at minus 3.6°C on Friday. There is no respite in sight also as Chillai-e-Kalan— the 40-day long chilliest part of the winter season—is all set to start from December 21 amid forecast for dry weather at least till December 25. It is followed by a 20-day long ‘Chillai Khurd’ and a 10-day-long ‘Chilla Bachha’.

A meteorological department official here told GNS Srinagar recorded a low of minus 3.6°C against the previous night’s minus 3.2°C. While the mercury was around 2.6°C below normal during this time of the year, the official said, it was coldest this season sofar.

Qazigund recorded a low of minus 3.4°C against minus 3.6°C on the previous night. The temperature 2.3°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

He said that Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 5.3°C against minus 5.6°C on previous night and it was 1.9°C below normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Kokernag recorded a low of minus 2.1°C against minus 1.3°C as on the previous night and it was 1.°C below normal for the place, he said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 2.5°C against minus 3.0°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 1.7°C above normal for the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the official told GNS.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at minus 3.6°C against minus 3.2°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 1.9°C below normal for the north Kashmir place, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 9.3°C against 7.1°C on the previous night. It was 2.6°C below normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 5.6°C (above normal by 3.9°C), Batote 6.0°C (2.3°C above normal), Katra 7.0°C (0.8°C below normal) and Bhadarwah 2.1°C (1.7°C above normal).

Ladakh, Leh recorded minus 11.0°C and Kargil minus 12.3°C, the official said. The MeT department has forecast mainly dry weather till December 25. (GNS)

Jammu, Dec 16: Two locals were found dead and One Injured outside the army camp along the Poonch-Rajouri highway early on Friday morning evoking massive protests in the area.

Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that two locals with bullet marks were found dead outside te Alpha Gate of army camp along Poonch-Rajouri highway at around 6 AM.

Locals identified the slain as Kamal Kumar and Surinder Kumar, both natives of Rajouri district. “I was travelling in ma vehicle and heard several shots of bullets at the Alpha gate of army camp. I left behind my vehicle and ran for cover. Later, I came to know that two locals have been killed,” a truck driver driver said.

A police official told KNO that they are ascertaining the facts. ” Senior officials have rushed to the spot to find out what actually happened and how the two locals were killed,” he said.

Meanwhile, massive protests rocked the area with locals demanding probe into the incident. The protesters have blocked the highway and traffic has been halted on the highway,” eye witnesses said, adding that empty cartridges have been found outside the Army’s Alpha Gate—(KNO)

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 15: In a significant development, J&K Bank’s Board has appointed General Manager Sudhir Gupta as Executive Director (ED) for a period of three years. The Bank’s board announced the decision in their meeting held yesterday soon after receiving the approval from Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Commenting upon the development, MD & CEO Baldev Prakash said, “I welcome the decision and congratulate Mr. Gupta on joining the Bank’s board. While augmenting the presence of Bank’s management in the board with his knowledge and experience, I think his induction will surely strengthen the relationship between the board and the management.”

Pertinently, ED Sudhir Gupta was also previously posted as Chairman J&K Grameen Bank for a period of two years. During his stint as Chairman J&K Grameen Bank, he has demonstrated ample leadership skills by accomplishing the strategic objectives within the defined timelines.

His areas of expertise include Credit, Finance, Corporate & Retail Banking, Customer Service, Trade Finance, Business Continuity Planning etc.

Biker dies after hit by vehicle in Baramulla, driver arrested.

Baramulla, Dec 15 : A 40-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle near Stadium colony in Baramulla district on Thursday evening even as the driver has been arrested.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man identified as Abdul Majeed Najar of Sumbal died on the spot when a bike he was riding was hit by a truck near Stadium colony. .

He said the driver of the vehicle has been arrested, while a case has also been registered.

“After the completion medico-legal formalities, the body will be handed over to the family for the last rites,” he said—(KNO)

Ensure 70% Expenditure be Incurred by December 31, RDD Director to Officers

Baramulla, December 15: In order to take an appraisal of physical and financial progress of various developmental works being executed by Rural Development Department under different sponsored schemes and programmes, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish and Director, Rural Development Department Kashmir, Imam U Din today jointly presided a meeting of concerned officers at Dak Bungalow where a comprehensive review was taken.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, M. Yousuf Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Development, Gulzar Ahmad Khan, Executive Engineer (REW) Baramulla, BDOs, AEE, AEs and other concerned functionaries.

At the outset of the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Development Gulzar Ahmad Khan appraised the chair about the current status of different works spearheaded by RDD Baramulla besides presenting a detailed sketch about the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes including 14th FCA, MGNREGA, SBM, ADP, CD & Panchayat, PMAY (Rural) and other related schemes.

The meeting also discussed detailed proposals under the District Capex Plan, 2022-23 including physical status of projects targeted for completion in the current fiscal.

During the meeting, it was deliberated upon all the BDOs to ensure hundred percent Aadhar seeding of MGNREGA job card holders besides 70 percent of expenditure limit be achieved in compliance to the directions of the government.

It was also given out that all the on going works under 14 th FCA and other schemes should be completed by this month, Geo tagging of all assets created under various schemes be done within a weeks time besides completed PMAY houses be provided the IHHL unit (Rs 12000) within seven days if not provided as yet.

Directions were also passed for clearance of Material and labour payments within seven days to the extent of releases made till date.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on the concerned officers/officials to take all possible measures to accelerate the pace of the ongoing works for their time-bound completion and directed for regular monitoring of works.

Dr Sehrish exhorted upon the concerned officers to achieve the set targets under different schemes within a stipulated timeframe with a focus on the creation of durable assets. She also asked for ensuring the release of wage payment under MGNREGA within a fixed timeline.

The DC issued on the spot instructions to officers of concerned departments to strictly adhere to quality specifications and ensure close monitoring for quality of works. She asked the construction agencies to put in their best efforts to achieve the targets within fixed timeframe.

On the occasion, Director, Rural Development Department Kashmir after taking a stock of ongoing works in the district directed all the officers to keep a close liaison and coordination with PRIs (DDCs/BDCs/Sarpanchs/Panchs) so that a new system of implementation of developmental activities is ensured in a hassle free manner and people can realize the actual and intended benefits of work.

He also stressed upon the officers to install Public Information Boards at prominent places in all Panchayats of the district so that the works under execution are displayed for the information of the general public.

Later, the Director RDD paid spot visit of the ongoing capacity building training program of PRIs/frontline workers at Dakbanglow Sopore being organised under RGSA and directed to ensure hundred percent attendance in the remaining scheduled program. He also inspected some of the ongoing and completed works of Rural Development Department.

The president of Jammu Kashmir Workers Party Mir Junaid called upon the Ambassador of Denmark to India Freddy Svane on Thursday. They discussed on the issues of mutual interest for India and Denmark.
