Srinagar : Kashmir’s loved Radio Jockey and sketch comedian Mirchi RJ Vijdan was spotted on different junctions around the city throughout the month of Feb, with a placard in hands, that read, “slow down, give way, save lives.’’

Vijdan has been talking about giving way to ambulances in the city, on his show on Mirchi FM as part of the month-long campaign, Sun Siren Sun – a sensitization campaign for listeners to be more considerate about patients while driving. Involving volunteers from schools and different backgrounds of life Mirchi FM took the initiative on ground.

Volunteers raised awareness among the public for making way for ambulances while driving. According to research published in 2017 by the National Crime Records Bureau nearly 24,012 people die each day due to a delay in getting medical assistance. To address this issue, Mirchi partnered with AL Rahat Hospital, Dr Bashir’s Eye Care Centre and ARG Jeep to raise awareness on air and on ground.

“We at Mirchi always try to bring initiatives through our programming and campaigns to address issues that the society faces, with Sun Siren Sun we used on air and on ground efforts to highlight the problem faced by ambulances and patients to make it to the hospital in time.” said Vijdan.
