In continuation to the public outreach program, DDC Vice Chairman and Apni Party Youth General Secretary Irfan Manhas conducted an extensive one day tour to Duchnoo, Heerpora and adjoining areas. He met several delegations including one from Krichapathri.

Manhas walked miles to reach the village as the road is inaccessible for vehicular movement and needs to scale through snow and mud for about half an hour passing high altitude. The people decried over the dilapidated condition of the road and primitive power infrastructure that shuts down in inclement weather conditions.

“I assure you to resolve the issue of road connectivity as I have travelled this far myself and witnessed your agony. Besides, resolving issue of water, an appropriate health facility in the area and proposing an electric transformer will be my utmost priority,” he said while interacting with the people.

DDC Vice Chairman Irfan Manhas was given a grand welcome by locals and also made to ride over a horse out of love for some distance to reach Duchnoo village where in he addressed a huge public Darbar.

He assured the delegations especially one from Krichapathri that he will visit them in coming time besides taking up their issues one by one including the construction of foot bridge.

Manhas also interacted with the youth and impressed upon them to work hard and chase their dream with steadfastness and diligence. He assured the youth of the area to help them in every possible way.

At the conclusion of the public meet, Manhas heartily thanked the locals for their warmth, love and respect towards him during the visit.

“Reaching out to every soul in the district and extending a helping hand is my prime mission”, he said. These public outreach programmes will continue further and I reiterate my commitment towards the welfare of the people of District Shopian,” he further added.

Pulwama, 10th FEB 2022:Continuing its war against the Drug menace in district Pulwama, On a specific information, a Police Party from Police Station Litter conducted raid at specific location at village Naina Batapora of Litter in presence of Executive Magistrate. During search 10.300 Kgms of Charas was recovered from the residential house of Bashir Ahmad Trumboo S/O Ali Mohd R/O Naina Batapora .To nab the culprits, various locations were raided by police party which still continues

To this effect Case FIR No. 12/2022 under 8/20 of NDPS Act. has been registered in Police Station Litter and investigation set into motion.

During initial investigation, It has been surfaced that Bashir Ahmad Trumboo and his wife are involved in drug supplying among the most vulnerable section of society i.e youths of the area. Besides that Police has also recovered 2 dozens of Mobile Phones from the spot which they had kept in exchange of drugs from youth.it is pertinent to mention here that both husband and wife are notorious peddlers

 

Pulwama Police appeals the people of the District to come forward with the information regarding drug peddlers so that curative steps can be taken against them.

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 10:(GNS)Jammu & Kashmir Government and world’s leading travel tech platform, OYO Group today launched rural home stay under project “Crown of Incredible India” in a special event presided by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan.

The Lt Governor announced Rs. 50,000 special financial assistance to youth willing to establish a home stay unit.

The Lt Governor said that J&K UT has emerged as a leader in the tourism sector over the last two and a half years.

With a market giant like OYO coming onboard, we are making in-roads to encourage micro-entrepreneurs in the villages and revitalizing local art & crafts and redevelopment of rural areas, added the Lt Governor.

Undoubtedly, nature has blessed J&K with great scenic beauty, and rural home stays will offer a piece of eternal culture, cuisine, traditions, and warm & friendly hospitality of J&K UT to domestic & International travelers, the Lt Governor observed.

This new initiative will empower local communities, youth and women, fulfilling the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Through vocal for local products, individuals and enterprises will help in poverty alleviation and sustainable development, said the Lt Governor.

The venture will help in building a tourist infrastructure of world standards in rural J&K. By December this year, around 200 home stays will be available on OYO platform, he added.

Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, the tourism sector has made unprecedented progress and recorded highest tourist influx in the country, besides generating great employment avenues for the locals, observed the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor said that the government is creating requisite facilities for the domestic and international tourists to experience the rich rural culture and traditions. Better road connectivity, water & electricity supply, mobile & internet connectivity are being ensured in the villages included under Tourist Village Network, he added.

We are making efforts in a systematic manner to connect the youth and self-help groups on a large scale in the tourist village network and give them an opportunity to be a part of the transformation of rural J&K, said the Lt Governor.

The UT Government under Mission Youth will support 500 youth for establishing home stay, he added.

The Lt Governor asked the DDCs, PRI representatives and other stakeholders to play their important role in tapping the huge tourism potential of rural J&K.

The new initiative will also promote sustainable and eco-tourism, rural products and creating employment opportunities in rural areas, he further added.

Sh. Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi, Chairman, DDC Anantnag thanked the UT Government for the endeavour to support the rural homeowners and augment their livelihood.

Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, while speaking on the occasion, said the rural home stay under project “Crown of Incredible India” will create new entrepreneurs, provide gainful employment to the rural youth and strengthen the rural economy.

Sh. Ritesh Agarwal, Founder & Group CEO, OYO, said that the OYO group is proud to extend its partnership with the Jammu & Kashmir Government to generate economic and employment opportunities in rural areas.

OYO Hotels has tied up with 20 home stays in Pahalgam and 10 home stays are present on their platform as on date. The project also aimed to improve tourism in underpenetrated areas in Udhampur, Doda, Pahalgam and Kokernag, it was informed.

Sh. Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary to Government, Industries & Commerce Department and Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, CEO Mission Youth outlined the key features of the rural home stay initiative.

Late in the evening on February 9, 2022, Kupwara Police during a naka checking at Trehgam Market, has apprehended 03 notorious drugs peddlers namely Noorul Hassan Bhagat aged about 27 years
son of Ab Ahad Bhagat resident of Bhagat Mohalla Trehgam, Mohd Ashraf Ganai @ Ashtar aged about 25 years son of Wali Mohammad Ganie, of Rampora, Hayan.
and Mohd Aslam Malik, 29 years son of Wali Mohammad Malik a resident of Rampora Hayan and recovered about 65 gms of Charras like substance from their possession. It was a routine naka of Police Station Trehgam laid by SI Qudrat Ali under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Rashad Younis in Trehgam Market when the trio was seen suspiciously moving in the area. As they are already known to be notorious persons dealing in clandestinely peddling narcotics, they were inquired to about their movement and searched, on which recovery of narcotics was made from their individual possession totalling to 65 grams .
Police has taken cognisance of the matter and FIR No.08/22, u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Trehgam and investigation taken up. Some more arrests can not be ruled out in the case in the coming days . Kupwara Police appeals the general public to cooperate in sharing the information related to drug abuse so that appropriate steps can be initiated and a drug free environment is created. Police also appeals the parents of young people to monitor their kins to save their lives.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar accompanied by Director Tourism Kashmir Dr G N Itoo today paid visit to the frontier area, Salamabad Uri where they carried out an array of developmental activities meant to promote border tourism through development and upgradation of basic facilities available at different different tourist resorts in the area.

At the outset, the officers took inspection of construction work at TRC Salamabad that is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 8.6 Crore under PMDP. They took a detailed appraisal of its components besides directing the concerned executing authorities to get the timely results.

Meanwhile, the DC and the Director jointly chaired a meeting in order to review the pace and position of several developmental works undertaken in the tourism sector.

The meeting was informed about the current position of several infrastructural components associated with the TRC. Those include multipurpose hall with cafeteria, souvenir kiosks and viewing decks, parking development, site development with plantation and solar irrigation and rain harvesting systems, solid waste management among others. The concerned authorities were directed to ramp up the pace of work for completing the undertaken projects within stipulated time frame.

Moreover, the Director briefed about the measures that are being taken to develop the tourism with special focus on border tourism in the area. He added that Salamabad is a prime location for tourists having all adventure related tourism facilities and the need is to develop basic infrastructure which will consequently develop the local economy.

He said apart from the development of these tourist resorts on advance parameters, the development of Ecotourism facilities will be given special focus.

Later, the DC took the inspection of 70 Meter Julla Bridge at Uri which is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs.5.6 Crore wherein strict directions were issued with regard to its completion. The bridge has an immense public importance as it connects Sharda link road with 20 adjacent villages.
Furthermore,the DC met several public deligations and listened their issues and greivances.

A 2-year-old girl from Soura Srinagar died in a road accident in Awantipora this afternoon.

Reports reaching GNS said that a girl identified as Touba Rani daughter of Abdul Majeed, hailing from Soura Srinagar boarding a ‘Wagon R’ vehicle driven by one Shiekh Suheel son of Ghulam Hassan met with an accident along NHW at Chersoo.

The injured girl was immediately evacuated from the site to PHC Awantipora, where she however succumbed to her injuries shortly after admission.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations. (GNS)

Police on Thursday asked all those landlords in Srinagar who haven’t done tenant verification to do the same before giving any premises or room on rent.

“In view of recent spurt in incidents of theft, assault and other crimes, all those landlords in Srinagar who haven’t done tenant verification are adviced to do it before giving any premises/ room on rent,” police said in a tweet as per GNS. “Responsibility may be fixed in case of any crime following non-compliance.” (GNS)

Daily Covid cases in Jammu and Kashmir fell to 33-day low, with 547 infections reported in the last 24 hours even as seven persons succumbed to the virus during the time, officials said on Thursday.

They said 307 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and 240 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall infection tally to 449333. On January 8, 655 cases were reported while 542 persons had tested positive on January 7.

Regarding the fatalities, the officials told GNS that four were reported from Jammu division and three from Kashmir Valley. So far 4739 persons have succumbed to the virus so far—2320 in Jammu and 2419 in Kashmir.

Giving district-wise details of the cases, they said, Srinagar reported 103, Baramulla 16, Budgam 22,
Pulwama 17, Kupwara 28, Anantnag 11, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 19, Kulgam 8, Shopian 1, Jammu 176, Udhampur 13, Rajouri 9, Doda 22, Kathua 17, Samba 12, Kishtwar 12, Poonch 4, Ramban 39 and Reasi 3.

Besides, they said, 2258 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time— 662 from Jammu Division and 1596 from Kashmir. So far 436082 people have recovered, leaving the active case tally at 8512—3288 in Jammu and 5224 in Kashmir.

They said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said. They also informed that 52941 doses of covid-19 vaccine were administered during the time in J&K. (GNS)

Aamir Wani, Baramulla, 10 Feb : A lineman of Power Development Department PDD was on Thursday evening injuried after he recieved an electric shock at Muqam village in northern kashmir’s baramulla district.

Locals said that a PDD lineman identified as Hilal Ahmad lone s/o Ab Rehman lone resident of Kreeri while repairing an electric wire recieved an electric shock and thus simultaneously sustained burn injuries. He was Shifted to SDH Kreeri where doctors referred him to Govt Medical College Baramulla GMC for further treatment.
