Srinagar, Apr 20 Jammu and Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul Islam Thursday said that no witness from any part of the J&K was received about moon sighting and hence a consensus was reached that the Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday.

“No evidence or any witness was received from any part of J&K about the sighting of the moon. Hence, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday,” Grand Mufti told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He said the decision to announce Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday was taken after consensus with the Ulema from Kashmir and Jammu region respectively that include head of Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, patron of Darul Uloom Rahimiya Bandipora, Moulana Rehmatullah Qasimi, also from Darul Uloom Bandipora Mufti Nazir Ahmed Qasmi, Mufti Muzaffar, Mufti Abdur Raheem via Baramulla. Khateeb at the shrine of Hazrat Naqshband Sahab (RA) Prof Muhammad Tayib Kamili , Chairman Karwani-e-Islami Ghulam Rasool Hami, from Sautul Awliya Fayaz Ahmed Rizvi, Shia Scholars Aga Syed Al Hassan Mosvi, Aga Syed Haadi and Masoor Abbas Ansari, Muhammad Yaseen Kirmani, Gen Sec Muslim Personal Law Board, Mufti Himayon, Shabir Ahmed Geelani, Abdur Hameed Nayeemi, Moulana Younus and Abdur Rehman Ashrafi from Qazigund. Srinagar, Apr 19: The Asia’s largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar has recorded the highest-ever tourist footfall this season as over 3.60 lakh people from different countries and states visited the garden in the last 30 days.

Shayiq Rasool, Floriculture Officer, Tulip Garden told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) a total of 3,65,624 people visited the garden so far from 20 March 2023 till 18 April.

He said that of total 3.60 lakh visitors, 58,600 were locals while 3,03,870 were from different states of the country, adding that 3154 foreign tourists also visited the garden in the last 30 days.

The officer said that it is for the first time that such a massive rush of visitors has been witnessed at the garden. “Tulip garden has witnessed a record-breaking tourist footfall this season,” he said.

Pertinently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet a few days ago, said that Jammu and Kashmir is beautiful, and even more so during the Tulip season.

Tulip garden was thrown open by the authorities for the general public on March 19 while the administration in wake of the rush of the visitors had also issued traffic advisory to ensure that there is no inconvenience to the people—(KNO)

Srinagar: A video is viral on social media wherein the Grand Mufti of Kashmir Nasir-ul-Islam is stating that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday.

To confirm the authenticity of the video, news agency Kashmir News Trust talked to Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam who said there is no statement from his side as far as the celebration of Eid on Saturday is concerned.

“How can I make a statement before a day when no attempt of moon sighting took place,” he said.

“The video that is viral is actually a pre-recorded one and is meant for the Door Darshan. It’s been a practice that DD records my two statements beforehand and airs one of them as per the situation,” he said adding that there were over 10 people in the room and somebody recorded his statement on his cell phone and made it viral.

“It was an attempt to create confusion and I reiterate that I have not issued any statement about moonsighting,” he said. [KNT]

Sopore, Apr 19: A Sarpanch affiliated with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) was arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Rafiabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Wednesday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that Ali Mohammed Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar,Sarpanch of Rawoocha village of Rafiabad was arrested for allegedly raping a woman.

The Sarpanch was arrested following a complaint by a woman that she was raped by him , he said.

The official said a case FIR No 26/2023 u/s 376, 506, 109 IPC has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation has been set into motion.

Notably, Dar was arrested for being a militant associate in 2017 but was l released later—(KNO)

Srinagar, Apr 19: As the Kashmir received incessant rainfall since yesterday, the authorities on Wednesday said that there is no alarming flood-like situation in the Valley and people need not to panic.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), chief engineer Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Er Naresh Kumar said that there is not alarming situation in the Valley as of now.

“The alert level at Sangam is well below the danger mark and same is in Ram Munshi Bagh. There is no alarming flood like situation as of now and people also need not to panic,” he said.

He also said it expected that the weather is likely to improve in the afternoon, so for now there is no need to panic.

Kashmir Valley witnessed incessant rainfall since yesterday, while the weatherman has predicted more rain showers as the day progresses.

An independent weatherman predicted that the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir will receive good amount of snow, while plains may get moderate to heavy rain.

He further said that more showers are expected till Friday, while maximum temperature will stay below normal by 4 to 13 Degree Celsius at most places—(KNO)

Reports reaching The Kashmiriyat said that three persons used to bring young women from Kashmir on the pretext of providing them jobs at Jammu and later involved them in the trade.

The Police raided a hotel named Richland where the scandal was being run during which several persons were arrested. Two young women and three running the scandal have been arrested, sources said.

Three identified as Mohammed Altaf of Kupwara Handwara, Asif Bhat of Anantnag and Tejh Krishan of Nagrota Jagti have been arrested. “The three have confessed in the Police custody that they brought young women from Kashmir promising them jobs and later clicked their photographs and used the photographs to blackmail them and used them in the sex racket,” sources told The Kashmiriyat.

It is being said that the trio is in touch of several other women.
